The supreme end of education is expert discernment in all things; the power to tell the good from the bad, the genuine from the counterfeit, and to prefer the good and the genuine to the bad and the counterfeit.   ~Charles Osgood
National Honor Society

Dear PEP Parent,

I have volunteered to serve as the sponsor of the Lambda Eta Chapter of the National Homeschool Honor Society at the Providence Extension Program.

The Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society was formed in 1999 to recognize and encourage scholarship among home school students. The benefits of membership include:

  • Recognition of academic achievement
  • Membership in a nationally recognized honor society
  • Opportunity to graduate with honors
  • Looks great on a college application!

Each PEP Director has brochures explaining the membership requirements. Applications for membership will be accepted until November 30, 2009. Please fill out the enclosed Membership Application and attach:

  • Standardized test scores from Sanford or Iowa (90% composite), PSAT(180+) SAT (1800+ out of 2400),  or ACT (26+).  Test scores should not be more than one year old.
  • Brief explanation of volunteer hours (10-20 hours a year)
  • Transcript with GPA (GPA of 3.5/4.0)

Completed applications may be mailed to:
Carol Topp
10288 Amberwood Ct,
Cincinnati, OH  45241.

If your student was previously admitted to the National Homeschool Honor Society, they do not have to re-test.  They must simply maintain a GPA of 3.5 and fulfill the volunteer service hour requirements.
