Providence Extension Program (PEP) is a non-profit educational program dedicated to serve parents who wish to continue to home school in Junior and Senior High School. Due to the volume and complexity of certain subject areas, often parents prefer to outsource some of the teaching in the latter years of home study. By the time a child is in Junior High, he desires to interact academically with his peers, but it may not benefit him to spend all his time in a formal school away from the company of his family. PEP offers an opportunity for the parent to continue to home educate and the student to enjoy the benefits of occasional classroom learning by excellent teachers specializing in the more challenging areas. (Not every mother wants to dissect an eyeball in her kitchen!)
PEP assists parents in equipping their children for a life of freedom which is endowed by our Creator and preserved by men and women who have trained themselves to be able to think rationally, discern Truth, and express thoughts clearly and persuasively. We desire to play a part in preparing students to impact their world in whatever calling they pursue in the future.
In addition, many home school parents are learning the value of classical education, yet, due to their own background in public education, they may seek some aid administering this to their children. PEP strives to incorporate the classical approach to education through the subjects offered and methods used in the classroom. This type of exposure will better prepare the student for life and post-high school education.
Our ministry also occasionally provides continuing education materials or seminars for parents and tutors to improve in their roles as parents, educators, and citizens.
Please browse through our site and be encouraged that you can continue to home school...with a little help from your friends.
What we are: An educational ministry to families which provides a broad based tutoring extension program designed to give parents some assistance with higher-level courses. PEP is an acting agency for home schooling parents which locates and secures independently contracted tutors to meet with children in small classes for an hour or two per week.
What we are not: A school. (PEP students must adhere to their state's home school laws. See Home School Legal Defense through our Links menu.)
Who we are: We are Christian parents, educators, and volunteers who are dedicated to training and preparing our youth to be Christ-centered world changers.
Providence Extension Program shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in connection with any of the rights, privileges, policies, programs and activities generally accorded, made available or administered.
