Logic, Composition & World Lit. (Core B)
Vickie Burke started teaching during her high school years on mission trips where she taught in a VBS setting, and continues to devote much time to teaching children about the God of the Bible. While a university student in Kansas, she taught Bible studies, wrote and edited her college newspaper, and was graduated with a degree in English literature. She has taught high school English in public and private Christian schools, journalism at the college level, was director of education at Hosanna House here in Jacksonville, led afterschool Bible clubs through the YMCA in Clay County and Duval County, home schooled her own children, and tutored homeschoolers for other families. Vickie is the wife of pastor David Burke, and helps out with kids’ and women’s ministry, music and clerical work at our church, and is grandmother to six. She has enjoyed teaching Logic and Composition and Literature (Core B) this year at PEP. In Logic she shows the importance of edifying speech and clear thinking skills, and in composition and literature some of the great masterpieces of literature such as Pilgrim’s Progress and The Hound of the Baskervilles, then good writing in response.
